Does my dog have BDE?

By now we all know what this stands for, right? I mean if you’ve been watching any Pete Davidson content you must know! Lol. But if not, I’ll quickly explain. The term “BDE” means, Big D*ck Energy, and its origins appear to come from a user on Twitter when he was describing Anthony Bourdain. So, it’s a thing, and it’s not only meant for guys (ehem, Queen Bey, Rhianna, Diana Taurasi…shout out Phoenix Mercury!) although the “D” would imply it’s a guy thing. BDE is a term that when one “has it” they exude confidence, a vibe that’s so cool you want more of it, and you wish it was you. So this got me thinking, does my dog have BDE?

Let me tell you about Walcott. He was rescued from a house full of other dogs, and if we didn’t pick him up that night they were going to abandon him; so he’s got a tough origin story. He was one of several dogs, being raised with no mom (she died shortly after he was born), living outside during the Phoenix monsoons, and having to fend for his food on the daily. He was a tough little guy, and in my mind, he turned that pain into resilience and charm. The minute we brought him home, he owned us and our 12 year old Lab, Charlie. We brought him everywhere from games, to the store, on walks, you name it, and everywhere he went everyone loved him. He’s charismatic, funny, gentle (my husband says he gives serial killer kisses, lol), and he loves you regardless of who you are (which makes me anxious he’ll move in with a new family at any given moment).  He’s handsome even when he’s a little dirty, and he has a strong purpose. He’s always getting attention, “What kind of dog is he?” or “Is he a puppy?”...truth is, we have no idea what he is. Maybe part dachshund? Terrier? Golden Doodle? Poodle? Regardless, he’s so freaking perfect (even with his hairy eyeball, which I can explain later).

So here is my conclusion: He will be down to do whatever, whenever. He’s cool, handsome in his own way, he loves what he does all day (he’s our security guard), everyone wants to be around him, and he always seems to be ok. So I guess there is only one answer: Yes, my dog has BDE!
